The Vieux Tours
An Historical and Lively district at your door steps
« Look up and watch … » is written on a sign of Blanqui street. The streets in Tours and more specifically the ones in the Medieval Tours (Vieux Tours) are a journey along the centuries.
Depending on your strolls you will go from the 19th century to as far as the medieval times, from large mansions to tiny ones, from brick to slates to lime stone (Tuffeau as it is called in the area).
Also, depending on the time of the day the Vieux Tours is constantly changing. So when you'll be tired of History, do like the French do: Sit at a Cafe terrasse and watch people. This is the best way to appreciate and understand life around you.
The vacation rental of Les Carmes is located in the midst of this lively medieval district but tucked away far enough on a leafy square. Everything is a stone throw from the Carmes square making it very easy for you to find any shop or services you may wish.
That said, as usual, we have our selection of “Coups de Coeur”. As the city is constantly changing you will probably find some new places you felt for. Let us know! (a click on the facilities link will lead you to more information)
