The Opera District
An Historical and Lively district at your door steps
To the East of "Rue Nationale the main avenue that split the city and the medieval district in two, to the South of the Loire river is the most regarded Opera district. This Bourgeois district has replaced the bubly Place plumereau ambiance by a more established ambiance and antiques shops. That said the district is not asleep as can testify the lively Rue Colbert and its numerous restaurants.
Take the time to explore the district and read the signs on the walls of the multi century old houses. Maybe you'll discover the house where Joan of Arc spent some time at the begining of Rue Colbert, or maybe you'll go thru the narrow "Passage du coeur navre" between Rue Colbert and Place Foire le Roi where prisoner where passing on their way to their punishment in the medieval times.
Take also the time to walk down Rue de la Scellerie and it's antiques shops. Do not hesitate to push doors and have a closer look... At the end of the street you'll be facing the Musée des Beaux Arts and its multi century old blue cedear from Lebanon. To the left of it is the Cathedral.
The vacation rental of Les Cordeliers is located in the midst of this lively medieval district but tucked away far enough to be a quiet place. Everything is a stone throw from Les Cordeliers making it very easy for you to find any shop or services you may wish.
That said, as usual, we have our selection of “Coups de Coeur”. As the city is constantly changing you will probably find some new places you felt for. Let us know! (a click on the facilities link will lead you to more information)
